Ben Goscomb, Lord of Grass and Protector of Bunkers

I'm back! Hello, did you miss me? I hope you did, that would be lovely. After a weekend of Weyfest and a quick jaunt down to Cornwall (with a stop in Plymouth of course), I have returned to the blogging world. Hide your excitement, you will wake up the neighbours. So last Friday I quit my job as a Greenkeeper at Basingstoke Golf Club. Unemployment is my newly found friend and we are getting on like a house on fire. Something will come up, don't despair for me! Besides, it gives me time to think about what the world of greenkeeping has taught me. Just some young adults striving for greatness Over the last three years, I have progressed from the casual summer boy all the way through to the role of a glorified apprentice before finding myself as a full time member of staff. It's been one hell of a journey and boy am I tired. Who knew that waking up at the crack of dawn could be such a burden. It has its perks I guess In typical private school fashion, I managed t

Who's ready for a nuclear war?

There are two people right now who are looking at the unfolding situation in North Korea and getting more and more irritated by it as the days go on; Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. This month was supposed to be about their heavyweight clash, but then some politicians decided to have a pissing contest. How rude. It's a scary thought really. War isn't a new thing for our generation; the power of mass media and the Internet has given us an insight into the various conflicts that

Neymar is worth how much?!

Let me take you on a journey through time. Unfortunately, I do not have a time machine so you will just have to join me through the much cheaper and simpler mode of transportation; the English language. The year is 1893, and Aston Villa have just paid £100 to West Bromwich Albion for the services of striker Willie Grov es. This was the first time in the history of football that a transfer fee had entered three figures. Over time the price of players rose. 1905 saw Alf Common join Middlesbrough for £1000, and Arsenal soon became the first club to spend a five figure sum through the signing of David Jack for £10,890 in 1928. Yes that's right, Arsenal broke the transfer record.  I will now fast forward to 2017, where Neymar Jr. has just joined Paris Saint Germain for £198 million. Yep... that's a lot of money. By the way, Manchester United spent £89 million on Paul Pogba in 2016 to break the previous transfer record of £85 million for Gareth 'Super Monkey' Bale in 2013
